All Hames has to be destroyed by the end of the fourth hour of the day of Ereb Pesah. It is prohibited to possess any kind of Hames after this hour, therefore if one has any Hames one is required to sell it to a non-Jew before the above-mentioned time or discard it.
The legal intricacies covering this transfer of property (selling the Hames to a non-Jew) are many. The Rabbi will act as an intermediary and as representative of the seller and must be given authority before Passover. Internet selling of Hames will be running until midnight Ereb Pesah.
Care should be taken not to benefit after Passover from Hames belonging to a Jew or patronizing a Jewish store suspected of not having transferred this Hames properly.
